I flew on Sri Lankan Airways from Colombo to Incheon, South Korea. I had looked up the airline beforehand and Skytrax rates them 3/5 stars. Furthermore, I was prepared to temper my expectations, but I low-key (or maybe high key) enjoyed myself. It was a bit of a hassle doing our boarding experience, but like our flight to Doha, business was basically empty so we had very attentive flight attendants.

The Seat

The seat was a surprise sleeper hit. This may have been my first business class seat with a massage function. I also LOVED the size. It was big and comfortable. When compared to the albeit newer QSuites seat, this was wider, longer, and had more feet room. There wasn’t much in the way of pockets or cubbies to hold things on the seat, but the deposit boxes directly in front made up for the lack of storage.

Business class seat

It was interesting how the cabin itself could go from freezing to hot within minutes. Lastly, there was a roach that climbed out of my seat into my drink. I would say that's a major flaw, and should be taken care of- but right along with my expectations, sadly.

The Food

Imperial Chicken

The food was (at least dinner) was fantastic. I got an order of imperial chicken, their first attempt at a Chinese dish. Joely had the traditional Sri Lankan curry. I very much enjoyed the imperial sauce (which was basically like bourbon sauce if you ever went to a mall, and had the mall Chinese). I had a bite of her curry, and it was also good, but not as good as mine 🫨

Sri Lankan Curry

The Breakfast was a let-down. They brought some toast, jam, and a few rolls. This tasted great, and as I began to prepare myself for another astonishing meal, she brought out a small bowl of unflavored Yogurt, and some melon compote…

A little part of me died then

As I waited for the rest of the meal with a bright, cheery smile. Like the dad that goes to get some milk, they never returned.

The Service

As I stated earlier, there were only a few of us in Business class, 4 people exactly. Because of this, we had 3 bathrooms for us to share, and I could always go without waiting every time. The flight attendants were also very attentive, and they brought drinks, snacks, and sweets whenever they passed by. I am not very familiar with Sri Lankan culture, but due to the mishap with the lounge I tried to access when I first got to Colombo, I didn’t have a positive first start. These ladies turned my sour opinion around.

The Overall Score

Overall, I was expecting this to be a 3/5 flight, but due to how good the dinner was, and my comfort in the seat, as well as the lovely flight attendants- I had a much better time. Wholistically, if I were from a poorer country, I think this was a 5/5 experience. But having just left Qatar, and comparing it versus them? I can do a:

4/5
